Pistol 101 Classes
Thanks for your interest in firearms training. I am currently teaching private lessons and they have been highly successful so please read on. Pistol 101 will continue the last Saturday of the month after the Club resumes normal operation. For the 2021 schedule, there will be no class on December 25, 2021.
RANGE READY classes are now available:
You are not without options for training, however. “Range Ready” in-home private lessons are available. In-home Range Ready classes are tailored to your specific firearm(s). Or, if you have not made a purchase yet, I can provide several examples for you to handle. A Range Ready class takes about two hours and covers gun safety rules, firearm handling and operation, fundamentals of pistol shooting to include stance, grip, sights, and trigger control. You will have the opportunity to practice with “dummy rounds” and training concludes with disassembly and cleaning procedures for your firearm. There is no live fire or live ammunition in the Range Ready class but ask me about live fire range coaching options. Email Karl for further information and pricing.
If you have other training needs let me know and we can discuss a possible solution.
Pistol 101 includes:
• 3 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of coached live fire range.
• Multimedia classroom session includes hands-on practical exercises.
Pistol 101 students will learn:
• Rules for safe gun handling.
• Understanding of both semi-auto and revolver action types.
• How to load, unload, and make safe, common revolvers and semi-auto action types with hands on practical exercises.
• The fundamentals of pistol shooting with coached firing on the range.
• Ammunition components and their function.
• How to work through common malfunctions.
• Cleaning and storage of your firearms, and more.
Pistol 101 is perfect for beginners even if you have never shot before. It is also good for self-taught intermediate shooters who will benefit from professional instruction. Pistol 101 is great for couples of mixed skill levels that are sharing a handgun for home defense.
Pistol 101 is open to the public. Club membership and Range Safety Orientation is not required.
When: The last Saturday of the month.
Where: Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club
