Trapshooters from all over had a blast at the 2017 Seafood Shoot, held September 22 – 24, 2017 at the Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club. Often the last competitive shoot of the year for many trapshooters, this annual tradition is looked forward to by many.
This year was no disappointment, sending off the 2017 target year with a bang, literally and figuratively. The weather was perfect most of the three days. Chances are the weather didn’t steal any targets from any shooter….well, maybe a slight bit of wind here and there, but nothing noteworthy.
The great turnout filled the air with lots of smiles and enthusiasm. Shooters competed in 6 events, and winners shared a pot of over $4,400 in added money, thanks to our awesome sponsors.
Eight shooters, Mark Rensi, Russell Bunn, David McCallum, Craig Levee, Roy Tiegs, Scott Moore, Nate Teesdale and Tom Hunt all earned themselves yardage (or honorary yardage) in Handicap with their stellar shooting. Congratulations!
After shooting up a storm (over 27,000 targets were thrown), there was a potluck on Friday night, and the much-loved seafood dinner Saturday night. Shooters, family and guests gathered to break bread, share stories and enjoy each other’s company. Saturday’s dinner featured salmon, clams, razor clams, cod, fresh oysters and a delectable assortment of sides and desserts. Tournament organizers, John Cheyney and Tom Lovrovich did an outstanding job, not only orchestrating the dinner, but also masterfully preparing the seafood, with help from priceless volunteers.
Following the delicious feast, those who gathered in the pavilion were treated to the much anticipated and loved BOONE SHAKES. Master mixologist, Boone, may have blown up his blender this year, in the process! Keeping up with the insatiable demand is no easy task, for man or machine!
Thanks to all for making the 2017 Seafood Shoot a success. Thank you to the shooters, for coming and participating in the tournament. Thank you to the countless volunteers, organizers John Cheyney and Tom Lovrovich, and the Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club staff. You make the tournament possible. It couldn’t be done without you. THANK YOU!
And last, but not least, special thanks to our sponsors, who contributed the boatload of added money. THANK YOU!
