On Friday, August 11, 2017, Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club hosted the 5th annual Emergency Food Network trapshooting fundraiser, “Breaking Hunger”. 75+- participants had a blast braking clays in trap and aiming at the red center in archery.
$16K+ was raised in funds. For every dollar raised EFN is able to procure $12 worth of food, making the total raised in this one-day fundraiser equivalent to almost $200,000 worth of food! That money will provide over 84,000 meals.
At the end of the day Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club members held their heads high as they took home trophies for High Male team (Le Rodenberg and Kirk Runion), High Archery (Le Rodenberg and EFN team members), and High Team (Brian Baldwin, Ceit Aquin Brooks, Rick Gaida, Le Rodenberg, Kirk Runion).
All American Armory was kind enough to donate 40 flats of shells, providing all participants with ammo to crush the clays with.
NW Shooters Supply generously provided 40 cases of targets.
Buck’s Beans catered the event with “the best chicken ever” (thighs with a pineapple, habanero glaze and breasts in BBQ sauce), smoked pulled pork, coleslaw and freshly cut fruit.
When the shooting and archery were over, those that choose to enjoyed refreshing their parched palates with beer provided by Gig Harbor’s 7 Seas Brewing.
Begin planning now to join us next year, Breaking Hunger.
