I was born and raised in Gig Harbor and have been around the club for as long as I can remember. My dad brought me to the club when I was very young, and I took hunter’s ed in the clubhouse in 1974. In the early 80’s my best friend and I began to shoot off and on, and I ended up becoming a life member in 1996.

My daughter and I started volunteering at the club several years ago by flipping burgers on Thursday evenings and cooking breakfast at special events. I became more involved by becoming the Construction Chairman leading such projects as the construction of the picnic pavilion, the kitchen renovation, various roof replacements, and many other smaller jobs including the recent remodel of the meat shack/rifle-pistol bathroom.

I also co-chair four of the biggest events at the club: The Ducks Unlimited Fun Shoot, the Mike Levanger Memorial Turkey Shoot, and two PITA tournaments; the Tax Refund Tournament in April and Seafood Shoot in September, which is the largest club event of the year.

Outside the club, I love spending time duck hunting with my daughter and friends. I have been a Ducks Unlimited member for the last 30 years and have chaired, co-chaired, and helped run the Gig Harbor Chapter Ducks Unlimited Banquet for several years. I also enjoy spending my time with friends and family fishing for salmon and steelhead.

Over the years my time spent at the Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club has been a big part of my life. I have made many friends who have become like family to me and enjoy seeing them every time I’m up there. I feel it is important to introduce and make new members feel welcome to the club.

I enjoy serving on the Board, making decisions that will help the club gain further recognition as an asset to the community and to help ensure that the club will be here for future generations, to provide a safe and enjoyable shooting environment.
