PITA Shooting Update

Yakima Valley Sportsman's Association held their annual BIG YAK Blanket Shoot

weekend of September 18-19. Gig Harbor was represented by seven shooters. Those

making the 150 mile trip across the Cascade mountains included Don Davies and

Carmen, Andy Gee and Lisa, Grant Lau, Mike Levanger, Lee Rodenberg and Jean, and

Bob and Marilyn Wallin. The weather was cool with showers off and on, but the real

downpour with thunder and lightening held off until late Sunday afternoon.

There were 75 or so shooters making up 15 five person teams drawn at random vying for

the coveted wool “Big Yak” blankets. Grant Lau led the lucky blanket winning team

with an event high score of 99/100. Scores on the winning team ranged from 99 to 87,

and totaled 470/500. Andy Gee shot on the second place team, and contributed a score

of 90/100 to the total score of 468/500. In other events belt buckle trophies were won

by Don Davies, Mike Levanger, and Bob Wallin. Le Rodenberg shot two perfect 25's

and won one of the WSPITA Magnum purses.

At the tournament there was a lot of interest by people in attending our Gig Harbor

Seafood Shoot to wind up the 2010 PITA shooting year.
