A fun day was had by all at Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, June 03, 2017, as more women trapshooters were born. 7 women joined teacher Brian Baldwin and coaches Don Davies, Harlan Schmidt, Andy Coster and Teresa Rebo to learn how to safely handle a shotgun, and have fun participating in the sport of trapshooting. The Women Only Introduction to Trap Shooting Class was an introduction to the fun world of shooting trap.
The day began with the mandatory Shotgun Range Orientation class, qualifying the participants for shooting on the range.
Instruction included firearms familiarization, safe handling of firearms, shotgun fit, stance and the fundamentals of trapshooting.
Following the classroom lecture, participants shot 50 rounds on the trap field, 25 straightaways and 25 oscillating targets.
The relaxed, non-competitive environment encouraged these new trapshooters to embrace new skills. By the end of the day there were some pretty amazing shots, some disintegrating the targets.
Excellent job, trapshooters!
Trapshooting is open Thursday evenings from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Check the calendar for any special closures. Come and join the fun!
