A beloved member of Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club, Charles (Chuck) R. Nicodemus, 79, passed from this life on February 25, 2017.

Chuck was an invaluable member of GHSC. He joined the club in 2002 and was always one to share his smile, and quick to offer assistance of any kind.  By 2004 Chuck was fully immersed, becoming a member of the Board of Directors, where he served until his death.

While on the Board, Chuck served as Vice President for several years.  A devoted VP, Chuck, and his wife, Carolyn, religiously attended Board Meetings, and participated fully in activities to ensure the safety and proficient operation of the club.

Chuck’s presence was felt all around the club.  He served as Chairman of the Rifle/Pistol Range for several years. During that time the range never failed to open for scheduled tours except, on rare occasion, when weather precluded access to the grounds.

Chuck was involved in rebuilding both the Rifle and the Pistol ranges, greatly improving their safety.

He recruited and trained a significant number of new Range Officers, and supported over forty volunteers, which included having over thirty trained as certified NRA RSO’s.

Chuck managed the pistol ammunition stock, and implemented a control process to eliminate the loss.

He also hosted the Sunday Clay Pistol shoot and facilitated the implementation of the Steel Plate Shoot program.

Chuck served as a Rifle/Pistol Range Officer regularly, and served as a Range Officer on the Trap Range as well.

Chuck also served on the Nomination and Election Committee and on the Audit Committee. He organized the highway cleanup projects a number of times, and oversaw the monthly WCCW inmate work project.

When help was needed for any number of construction and maintenance projects, Chuck was there, pitching in.

He was a Certified NRA RSO, Certified NRA CRSO and RSO Instructor, NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor.

To say Chuck is greatly missed is an understatement.
