For our trapshooters who shoot registered PITA (Pacific International Trapshooting Association) targets, July is a jam-packed month.  We wrapped up the busy month with the 84th Annual Grand Pacific Trapshooting Tournament, held at Evergreen Sportsman’s Club in Littlerock, Washington, July 19-25, 2015.

This is the largest PITA tournament of the year.  This year we saw competitors from Alaska, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington join together to compete and overall just have a whole bunch of fun together.  The turnout was great, weather was cooperative, and spirits were high.

Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club had several trapshooters there, and proved to be tough competition.  Our very own John Mullins held his own, bringing home 4 trophies, including AAA Class winner for both HOA (High Over All), and HAA (High All Around).  John broke an astounding 391/400 targets in the HAA events, and 949/1000 in the HOA events, beating out all other shooters except one. Fantastic shooting, John!

Part of John’s journey to the HAA and HOA wins included winning Event 4, Doubles, AA Class with a score of 96/100.  John then followed that performance in Doubles, Event 17, where he crushed 99/100, taking home the Champion trophy.

John wasn’t our only shining star, however.  Three other club members are probably at home right now finding the perfect place to display their brand new trophies.

Starting with Event 5, Singles, Art Fenton brought home the Senior/Elder trophy, with a score of 98/100.

Then in Events 13/15 Championship Singles, Bob Wallin won the D Class Runner Up trophy by slaying 187/200 targets.

Event 14 – Handicap, gave Grant Lau a chance to shine bright, crushing 92/100 and taking away the prize for Veteran Winner.

Grant followed that up with yet another win for Veteran Class in Event 16, Handicap.

Bob Wallin wrapped things up by taking home the trophy for HAA, D Class Runner Up with a score of 187/200 in Events 13/15 Championship Singles.

To recap, Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club members won the following events:
