GHSC shooting the Continental!

2-13-08

With 4 rounds of the Continental league completed GHSC shooters hold a 16 bird lead over the 2nd place team from Black Diamond. Many shooters have contributed to the team scoring system for GHSC yet the final 5 man high gun team will not be made up till the final shoot in March, the “banquet shoot” to be held this year at GHSC.

Highlights this year so far Inc, but aren’t limited to: Alex Welcher shooting a perfect 100 straight at Evergreen (actually 125 as he didn’t miss any in warm-up either) way to go Alex! John Mullins consistent shooting 99, 99, 98, 99 so far, Mike Levanger getting into a 3 way tie at Ravensdale- you’ve got 2 weeks to think about the shoot off Mike! (Best be perfect on the 1st 25!) Carl Miller backing his way into a “Blue Goose” in “B” classification (his competition left for warmer grounds, Hawaii, although the way Carl is shooting this year we all think he was scared and ran for the hills) congratulations Carl!, Dean Paulson and his son Zach 1st time Continental shooters- father and son fun at it’s best, Ladies 1 winner Lavonne Sigler at Ravensdale- nice shooting, The trap house “got in the way” for one of our shooters again this year at Ravensdale, rumor has it he was just looking out for the next shooter that might have gotten a very low bird and isn’t tall enough to see over the trap house from post 1 AND one of the highlights this year seems to be the “money birds” that are associated with the infamous squad 3. Seems that if one of the 5 team members misses either the 1st or the 100th bird at any of the shoots this year, that individual has to pony up $5.00 (each bird) towards the year end squad 3 party. It’s become such an event and there is such a following that the members of squad 3 are contemplating putting up a security fence, hiring security personnel and charging admission to view the event! There have been video and still cameras to chronicle the shooters activity and cheers and jeers for those shooters upon completing their round. Kiwi, how does it feel to be the only one to miss both the 1st and last birds at the same event? $10.00! “Remember guys- it’s the money bird!”

This writer understands there’s only one shooter that hasn’t contributed to the fund- any pressure on our club President?

Lots of other members shooting and keeping the GHSC rolling along- Dave Sypher, Bob Wallin, Jeff & Van VanWagner, Tom Davis, Andy Coster, Carroll Grisdale, Richard Welcher, Larry Weeks, John Scouler to name a few. I’m sure those names missed will be reported and up-dated in the next writing. Also a huge thanks to the Chair- Tim Mullins, co-chairs- Jeff Van Wagner & Tom Davis, desk help- Linda Mullins & Marilyn Wallin, squad keeper extraordinaire- Darleen Sypher and all who help set up the events!

Good luck to all the GHSC shooters and have fun during this league shoot and look for another up-date soon!

With 6 rounds of the Continental league completed GHSC shooters hold a 33 bird lead over the 2nd place team from Black Diamond. The “banquet shoot” will be held this year at GHSC on March 30th. Volunteer help is needed for that day- scorer’s banquet help trap loading etc. There will also be a work party on Saturday the 29th to ensure the GHSC is set and ready for the shoot. 150+ participants and guests will be at the club so your help is needed to make sure our club is in the best shape it can be. Contact Mike Levanger or Dave Sypher to sign up and help.

Now for some highlights- (or lowlights)-

Highlights from the past 2 shoots: John Mullins continuing his shooting prowess, Larry Weeks winning his 1st Blue Goose of the season- I’m sure there’s another one in Larry’s future, Mike Levanger actually getting up early to watch squad 3 shoot, nice to see you early bird!, How did you do in that shoot off any way Mike?, Alex and Richard Welcher continue to shoot well for GHSC and Dave Sypher is showing why he’s classed as high as he is… Good consistent shooting Dave, Ladies 1- Lavonne Sigler continues her torrid pace through that class, Trap house’s seem to have been spared the last 2 shoots and yes GHSC’s President even added to the “money bird” pot that grows with each and every shoot. Andy Coster seems to be getting better at those 1st and last birds, he hasn’t contributed in some time- there’s still 2 shoots left Andy, Don’t think about it and miss! Squad 3 is going to have one incredible party when the league is completed this year! Even those members of squad 3 that miss a shoot aren’t protected from the 1st and last bird protocol, isn’t that right Carroll? H.C. VanWagner seems to be holding his own as well- good shooting Van!

A continued thanks to many of the GHSC members who shoot and keeping GHSC moving along- Dave Sypher, Bob Wallin, Jeff VanWagner, Tom Davis, John Scouler to name a few. Also- again thanks to the Chair- Tim Mullins, co-chairs- Jeff Van Wagner & Tom Davis, desk help- Linda Mullins & Marilyn Wallin, squad keeper extraordinaire- Darleen Sypher and all who help set up the events!

Continued good luck to all the GHSC shooters and have fun during this league shoot!
